 Chapter 3 (Cont.)

Even my custom signal processor, a module made by the Goreloggers, was failing to detect what was propagating these signals coming from inside the trunk. Complying to government regulations, signal processors / analysers / propagators and related were one of the baseline essentials, as wireless comms were crucial no matter the context. From the state-bestowed signal cybernetics to premium upgrades and junkwares, each signal processor had some limitations. For instance, the modules could operate only on state-approved protocols, connect only to state-approved frequencies. The government-manufactured processors did the essentials, the premiums made them sophisticated, the junkwares often had impurities and technical shortcomings. What differentiates them from esotericware signal processors is that, regardless of manufacturer, the latter were completely unshackled and could pick up and analyse irregular frequencies. Different esotericware manufacturers, both individual and guildbased ones, had different approaches, additional functions and quirks. The module I have currently installed, Necroseek Mk. VI, has a synergised AI interpretor; meaning that upon activation, it creates a symbiosis with the host's prefrontal cortex and frontal lobe and by dint of that, enhances fuzzy logic systems all while being reversible. This was introduced to the Goreloggers' Necroseek series' sixth upgrade- the latest. However, this technology is not a groundbreaking innovation but according to my research, it was being developed near the final years of the great war, as an attempt to supercharge elite operatives. As selected cities completely escaped the nuclear annihilation, the technology and the knowledge were retained, however, were made completely confidential within the authority and its associated corporations. It is still a mystery to me how the Goreloggers secured this tech. They are an entirely strange bunch, they do not behave like humans, they were antipodal to someone like Norman Sickfried: detachedly tenacious instead of passionately paranoid. The Goreloggers had far, far higher degree of incentives to be paranoid compared to Norman Sickfried, yet their utter arrogance baffled me to no extent. They didn't behave like humans or post-humans anymore. I suppose they were treating cybernetics not as opoids but as extreme logical stimulants that were engineered to eliminate the pitfalls of emotions. But they didn't act like machines or artificial intelligence either; they were unquestionably human. Or an alien tribe dressed in the veneer of humanity, profoundly free from emotion-spiked mistakes. In the old world, there was an arrogant revolutionary called Che Guevara who, despite his previous displays and feats of resilience in propagating a densely flawed ideology, died like a bitch during his execution. The Goreloggers had no hierarchy as the guild consists of equals; but if a Gorelogger was captured and put to face the excruciating hour surrounding the execution, that is not the decisive and instantaneous executive action— the killblow, but the spacetime of utter anxiety preceding it, then the Gorelogger would remain completely unbothered. He or she would only attempt escape or countermeasures only if s/he is certain about its feasibility; otherwise remaining unflinched. Not an iota of information leak, no bitch meltdowns. It seems like they are attempting something on a much larger scale than recursive movements like rebellion. I guess they are not rebelling against the systems but humanity as a whole.
