“Well, are we prepared to start?”, I asked Aidenson. “The team at Eevves HQ has been painstakingly preparing it for five days— making repeated tests and gathering as much as data as possible, extrapolating from them… And what not? I am confident that we are wholly prepared at the calculation level. Now, the only factor remaining is our determination. WARP format is dependent on the skill of the Regulators, after all. There has never been an incidence of humans interlocuting with an unshackled Titan using a second-generation God.”, briefly pausing and then slightly leaning forward, in a lowered voice as if tellling a secret, Aidenson added, “We are going to make history, ma’am. Like anyone ever making history, in the old world or the new, our will is the most decisive element.” History. Will. Aidenson speaks as if human will has always made the world right, when history soon enough says otherwise… History is irrelevent here anyway, but the future is full in. The recent chain of events reveals shocking shortcomings about The Oracle, and with the rebellion brewing collaterally (or is there a greater conspiracy that hints at something far more sinister?..), there is no time to analyse history to look for signs for where it may repeat itself. All I know is that I must get to the bottom of it all. My routine has drastically changed since the Moire incident, and while I was spending more time on investigation than administration, the more shocking thing happened, while just before that, I thought nothing more shocking than the Moire incident could possibly happen. Let’s see, would my precedent, Home Minister Nöelle Finnegan ever have thought that she would hear about the assassination of the chief of secret police on a random official day? Maybe she had entertained that idea out of frustration, or a crude joke, or simply because she secretly wished for the downfall of the NWF. Now, the history of her tenure is that she never got to hear any news of that sort, whether she wanted to or not. And I have, whether I anticipated it or not (No, I did not at all). Here, Aidenson has corporate concerns. It’s naturally enthralling to him that Eevves is going to be responsible for making a groundbreaking leap in matrix technology. There’s been a secret cold war among the corporates of Datamangle and Eevves since quite sometime. The cabinet of Tatterstown has maintained a collaboration on central matrix maintenance orchestrated by the two but that’s on governance-basis. As independent corporate entities, they are sworn enemies of each other even though neither CEOs would publicly admit to such a notion and officially, they are frequently seen in meetings with the cabinet along with other affiliate corporates. But their enmity has never hindered central matrix operations in the slightest way. The labour is divided into the lowest friction between the systems overseen by the two. Regardless of that, it would naturally be seen as of exceptional prestige for Eevves to spearhead the next milestone in matrix technology. I had a feeling he was going to bring up something along the lines of “historic landmark” or something of that sort. But my conviction is to unravel the mystery; never once in my political career, before or since becoming the Home Minister have I ever seen something like this happen, uncannily suspicious of orchestrated coordination than isolated coincidence, and even isolated, they stick out as hideous anomalies… I must learn everything about it!
